Olympians Galen Rupp and Amy Yoder Begley are planning to open their 2010 outdoor season at the Brutus Hamilton Invitational in Berkeley, April 23-24.
Their coach, Alberto Salazar, said Yoder Begley would run in the featured women’s race, the 3,000 meters, and that Rupp would run in the 5,000.
The New York Road Runners sponsors the distance carnival portion of the meet.
Rupp and Yoder Begley have spent the last two and a half weeks training at altitude in Albuquerque, N.M. and will mostly likely stay there until they prepare to race.
The women’s 3,000 could include a blockbuster lineup, particularly if Jenny Barringer or Shannon Rowbury are part of it.
The following week, Rupp has targeted a 10,000 meters race, either at the Payton Jordan Cardinal Invitational or the Oregon Relays.

I cannot make a comment on Johana's site for some reason you can't leave a message without joining google…but here it is and best of luck to her
Hello..
I was looking at the letsrun web site and read the article on Brutus/Hamilton and saw your picfture in the corner.
I recognized it immediately.
It looked just like the turban my wife wore twice, in August and September last year as she had her tumor removed.
She has Glioblastoma Multiforme.
She is being treated at MD Anderson in Texas.
She is on a trial now and we go back every 8 weeks..
It has really affected me as a caregiver…Before, I didnt know an oncologist from a car mechanic…I was the runner in the family..80,000 miles in 30 years..now, the arthritis in my knee is so bad, I can't even work the stress off in our beloved sport of running….
I keep trying…Glioblastoma..all those “toma”s suck…
Best of luck to you..

I am looking forward this year to seeing if Galen Rupp can continue to improve at 1500m/ 5/10 K along with the betterment of American long distance running, both male and female. Back in the UK no such signs of improvement sadly.!!!
Good luck and best wishes for Galen in California.
