Darya Klishina not selected for Russian team, will not compete in the London Olympics

Earlier this spring, I posted an April Fool’s Day video about Russian long jumper Darya Klishina dropping her main event, moving to Eugene and becoming a distance runner.

Not only did a major website fall for the joke (see here) but it also appears there may be a TrackFocus curse. Those hoping to see her jump in London are in for some bad news. Klishina, the European indoor champion, could only manage 5th place at the recent Russian championships and will not compete at the London Olympics (Full Russian Olympic T& F roster).

Klishina, 21, still  has a long career ahead of her, but missing out on the Olympics in London will surely be a big disappointment. Let’s hope the TrackFocus curse isn’t real.
