The Portland Track Festival has a history of attracting some athletes chasing after standards and others sharpening up before the Olympic Trials. The 2012 edition of the event held at Lewis & Clark College had a little each.
One of the highlights of the evening was Dathan Ritzenhein clocking two sub 14 minute 5ks. Doug has a write up about Ritz that can be found on the ESPNHS/Dyestat site.
Other performances worth noting:
-A win by Renee Metivier Baillie, who in recent year’s has been plagued with a bad Achilles, running 15:28.56 in the women’s 5000m.
-2011 World Champs racer/cross trainer extraordinare/startup co-founder Lauren Fleshman ran for 3rd clocking 4:20.01 in the 1500m.
-Four women hit the Olympic Trials A standard in the 10,000m: Rebecca Donaghue (32:36.05), Zap Fitness’ Sarah Porter (32:37.22), Addie Bracy (32:37.66) and Adriana Nelson (32:43.48).
-Union High School’s Tanner Sork went sub 1:50 again winning the 800m in 1:49.10.
-John Mickowski topped Evan Jager, Riley Masters and Andrew Bumbalough running 3:40.60 for 1500m.
-Aaron Braun and David McNeill finished 2nd and 3rd behind Ritz in 13:20.25 and 13:21.62.
