Jesse Williams kicked off his Diamond League season Friday by winning the high jump in Doha, Quatar. Williams, who represents the Oregon Track Club Elite, cleared a height of 7′ 7 3/4″ on his way to victory. Challenging Williams for the win were Kyriakos Ioannou of Crete and last year’s World junior champion, Quatari favorite Moataz Essa Barsham. Williams and Ioannou actually cleared the same height with Williams getting the win on misses.
